Old website dropped

The old site has been dropped and the new brand is on. Took a while to get all the DNS/IP pointers right and stuff but I’m happy it’s done.

For the record, my experience with the following:

  • Exchange and Sharepoint services: 123Together is great and professional, only hope they will upgrade to Sharepoint 2010 soon.
  • Brinkster.com: been my provider for ten years but they lack support for WCF and RIA Services. Closing my contract, support has degraded over the years.
  • Webhost4life.com: they upset me more than I can tell. Fake, fake, fake! (I’m still upset actually…).
  • Arvixe.com: current provider. Great for now, I hope they will not be taken over by another giant as this seems to be for most providers the end of good service. Anyway, fully satisfied with them and their .Net support/knowledge.
  • hosted-projects: SVN host. Great service, they know what they’re doing.

There are many very good hosts around, but the specific Silverlight/Net needs are not understood by most providers. Also, an affordable SQL Server service is difficult to find. I guess a dedicated server would be the ideal solution but the budget for this is out of reach for now.

Thanks to all who have helped, reviewed and advised regarding the new brand and more.

PS: this is a WordPress site which has been heavily customized and expanded. Next version will be based on Telerik’s SiteFinity but not anytime soon. Setting up a new site is a real time-and-money killer…
